The waves cleaned up overnight and the surf was pumping in four to five foot conditions with more predictable conditions for the competitors to chase the best scores.

Quik Pro Round 2 wrap-up

The swell built overnight to three to four foot and kicked off at 7.30am sirening most of the WCT surfers out of the free surf line-up.

I’m so stoked.  I remember being a grommet and sitting down the beach here at Snapper watching these guys surf this event and dreaming of doing it one day myself. It’s crazy to think this year I will be.

Quiksilver in Memory Eddie Aikau - Thursday 25th February 2016

John John Florence (HAW) brought a new style and a new generation to big wave surfing today by winning the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, a World Surf League Specialty Event, in waves of up to 60-feet. Florence won $75,000 - the biggest purse in Big Wave riding, with a 4-wave total of 301 out of 400 points.
